With
the advent of a new location and the awarding of a Kohler Distributorship,
the company moved away from hardware products to include residential
and commercial plumbing and heating products. Over the years, the
company developed strong relationships with the major plumbing
and decorative fixture companies such as Elkay, Burnham, Wirsbo,
Taco, Slant Fin and Grohe. With a mission to provide its large
customer base with solid, dependable service, Peabody Supply Co.
became a leading distributor of plumbing and heating products on
the North Shore. When plumbing products became a mainstay in many
home centers in the northeast in the 1980's, Peabody Supply developed
a distribution network to service the home center industry consisting
of Grossman’s, The Home Depot, and most recently Lowe's.
In 1995, the board of directors determined that
the nature of the wholesale industry was changing. No longer
could the company grow at the desired rate being lead by a family
of salesmen. So it was decided that a person with accounting
and business leadership skills was needed. Domenic Messina was
that individual. He joined Peabody Supply in the fall of 1995
as the controller and was subsequently named President in 1996.
His values and professionalism have been integral to Peabody Supply becoming a leader in its market.
As the demand for plumbing services grew, Peabody Supply opened its second location on Route 125 in North Andover, MA in the fall of 1996. This location includes a Kohler Registered
showroom called “The Bath Showcase” and caters to
the plumbing contractor and builder in the Merrimack Valley.
This acquisition nearly doubled the size of the company bringing
the number of employees from 28 to 47. Over the next five years,
Peabody Supply Co. continued to grow, offering both high quality
products and service.
In the spring of 2001, Peabody Supply opened
its third facility in Kingston, NH on Route 125. This location
also includes “The Bath Showcase”, a Kohler Registered
Showroom. With the addition of the Kingston, NH branch, the
number of Peabody Supply Co. employees rose to over 60. In
2003, Peabody Supply opened “ The Bath Showcase” in
the Peabody location.
In February of 2004 the company purchased Plumbers Edge. This purchase gave them distributions points in North Chelmsford and Waltham, Ma. The company opened up an additional Bath Showcase in the North Chelmsford location. With 5 locations in the North Shore market the company is prepared to address the needs of the professional contractor, remodeler and home owner by providing elegant showrooms and full distribution facilities for all their plumbing and heating needs.
Peabody Supply’s locations with the company employees numbering over 90,
each have showrooms for customers to view, coordinate and consult
with knowledgeable bath professionals on remodeling, upgrading
and designing the perfect bath. Peabody Supply has grown to
become the premier plumbing wholesaler dedicated to service,
providing superior customer service and unrivaled technical
knowledge.
